{griffin: 5 months}

Month five has been full of excitement.  Your sweet personality continues to come through, and we love how vocal, active, and wiggly you are becoming.  Can we talk about how your laughter just melts me?  You started belly laughing in full force, and always let out the biggest sigh when you’re done.  It’s
adorable.

As your personality is growing, you are defiantly showing us that you are a little spitfire. You know how to get what you want, and always give a gummy grin, once you’ve gotten it.

Uncle Will & Aunt SM kept you while Mama and Dada had a date night.

At 5 months, you are still growing and are 15.8lbs. You’re a little on the shorter side so that makes for some kissable belly rolls. You are still wearing your 3 month clothes. However, I've been mixing some of your 3-6 month items into the mix too.

You are doing a lot with your hands this month.  Aside using your hands to put every toy/object in your mouth, you have figured that you have fingers attached to your hands and they make the perfect soother.  I hope that you don't continue to suck your thumb, but if you do, at least you are adorable while doing it.  You have also mastered holding your own bottle.  I guess you've decided that if you want it bad enough, you have to do it yourself.

You got your first taste of rice cereal this month too...and you HATED it!  I think hate is an understatement too.  I just knew that you would love it and I wouldn't be able to feed you fast enough once you got your first bite of it.  Wrong.  I'm not sure why you not liking rice cereal never crossed my mind, but it didn't.  Thankfully, after a week of you pushing your lips tightly together, gagging, and pitching the biggest fit of your life, that hurdle has passed and you are liking it now.

The doctor says your belly may be getting in the way of you rolling over. We are still practicing rolling from front to back, and from back to front. You seem to have an easier time rolling from back to front though.

Since you have found your toes, you have loved rolling from side to side.  I feel that you now are more comfortable on your side, so you have decided to sleep on your left side at night.  We have also done away with the swaddle.  You like to sprawl out and seem less uncomfortable without it.  Every night I rock you to sleep and you drift off to dreamland so peacefully. Then, when I lay you down I try and do it so lightly like I am trying to disable a bomb

You have gone back to sleeping through the night with the exception of waking up maybe once.

You have started having a preference of toys.  You know which one you want and are not happy until you get it.  Once you see the toy that you want coming near you, you give the biggest grin.  Little Stinker.

You have had some special time with Dada this month.  He has been so busy building your house and time has been precious.  He is really good and getting your giggle box turn on and the belly laughs you give him are so funny.  Mama just sits back and laughs with you.

You were sick...again.   This time was a viral infection.  You had it for a whole week, but we are so happy you are back to your normal self.  When you are sick, you are a stage five clinger!!  You need to be held so much more and I am perfectly okay with that.

Month 5 was full of celebrations too! We Celebrated your first Labor Day,

Your first picture day at Daycare,

Your first Grandparent's Day,

First Opening Day of Deer Season,

and your first solid Orange Friday. Go Tigers!

We also introduced you to your new Boon Highchair.  Of course you love it, because you'll take anything that helps you sit up and that you eat in.

Life is so sweet with you in it and its hard to believe that next month we will be celebrating your half birthday. We love you sweet boy and are so thankful to be able to do life with you.

And just for the fun of it...one more picture of this dough-y little pale skinned boy.

18 Months and Counting

Since you turned 12 months old, the months just seem to be flying by.  You are growing everyday and changing so, so much.

You love exploring!  You are always trying to find a new place to crawl under or hide behind.  I well say, "Where's Griffin" and you will jump out and yell, "Boo!"

You have always been a Mama's boy, but that role is soon changing.  You have clung to your Dada and in your eyes, there is no better person.  Dada takes you on "Gof Car" Golf Cart rides and you demand them nightly.  You get so excited when you know you are going on a ride and you run around the whole house until your feet reach outside.

Over the past few months, books have been your favorite.  Your MeMa bought you some new books and the Doggie one is always your first pick.  You flip through the pages and yell "Dog" every time you see a new one.  You love doing the sound that a dog makes, too.

Your vocabulary grows daily and I get so surprise when you say something new that I know we haven't worked on.
You can say Mama, Dada, Ma'ama, Mammie, Papa, SaySay (for your Aunt Sara Margaret), No, Yes, Please, More, Thank You, Night Night, Golf Cart, Cow, Dog, Bird, Duck, Cat, Pig, Head, Foot, Socks, Shoes, etc.
You also know the animal sounds of a dog, rooster, cow, sheep, goat, etc.

You became a big cousin for the first time ever!  Edwards Carlton was born last month and you seemed to be very loving to him.  You were not too rough and you liked playing with his feet.  I see a lot of play dates with this dude often!

18 months and counting big boy.  You are learning about your new sibling coming soon and I just know that you will be the best big brother.

Toddler News: 16 Months

When people say how fast their first year flies by they aren't kidding.  But what they don't tell you is how fast the 4 months after the first year goes.  It is crazy how life has been flying by and I now have a 16 month old.

Griffin has become such a sweet little man.  He has taken the new house by the horns and loves exploring every inch of it.  He takes full advantage of the stairs and so do I for cute pictures.

He and his Dada have really became to peas in a pod.  I have watched their bond grow and my little Mama's boy has turned into a full fledged Dada's boy.  I love it.

Nightly rides in the golf cart are a must whenever Dada is around.  Trip around the pond are one of his favorites.
You are loving learning new animals and the noise that it makes.  Your favorite is of course Dog.  We are working on cat, cow, bird, goat, and pig and of course the sound they make.

We are also working on body parts.  He has nose, head, and mouth down pat.  Eyes and teeth are a work in progress.

I have noticed this month that his language has really picked up.  He still can mimic just about any word we say but has a few that he says on his own.
Dog, Mama, Dada, Moose, Bye, Please, Papa, Pappy, Mammie, Ma'amaw, No, Socks, Pancake, Shoes, Paci

"No" has become one of his favorite to say and he has learned to say it with a little sass.  We are working on that, because that could get him in trouble.

Bath times is still one of his favorites.  He has learned to put his face under water and while holding his breath.  It scares me to death, but he thinks it is the funniest thing.

When we talk about the new baby in Mama's belly, he always hits his own belly and says baby.  It's cute now, but I hope he doesn't go to an individual in public and hit their belly and say "baby."

You are a great help with getting dressed in the mornings and can "put your arms up" when I take your shirt off.  You also do a great job helping me put your socks and shoes on.  I think it tires you out because a lot of the times you end up like this.

You are loving your new class at school and you are loving being able to go outside.  Hopefully, the slide will become one of your favorites.

We love you so much Griffin Mark and can't wait to watch you become a big brother to your new sibling.

12 Months of Griffin

I think that I have hung on to every ounce of you in hopes that the 12 month milestone will wait a bit longer.  But as is planned, you are now a toddler, but never forget that you will always be Mama's baby.

This month has been amazing!  Seeing you learn new things everyday is such a blessing.  We have a lot of favorite times together, but my favorite is night time.  You get so sweet and your giggle box always gets turn on full blast.  You love for me to sing to you and your favorite is, "This Little Light of Mine."  You seem to take every second of that song in and you always get the best smile on your face.

You started whole milk this month and we said goodbye to formula.  The change was easier than expected and you love it!
We celebrated your first Easter and you enjoyed being able to hunt eggs with your cousin.

You still go coo-coo over a ball and  I actually bought you one that is twice your size.  I thought you would have a hard time getting your arms around it, but you have proven me wrong and walk around with it all the time saying "Bah, Bah, Bah"

You are still an amazing sleeper.  You usually go down at 7pm and you sleep until 6:30 or 7:00am.  Your Mama and Dada thank you.  As I lay you down at night you go straight to your belly and tuck your arm underneath you.  You always reach one hand around you, because you know I am getting ready to lay the blanket over you.  You love to get the blanket in your hand, then snuggle it to your nose.  I love how you do a lot of things in a routine.  So much like your Mama in that aspect.

Your new word is Uh-oh, and we hear it a lot!  You sometimes make a game out of dropping something and you automatically follow it with a big UHH-OHH.

You love to clap.  You do it most during eating times and when the theme song for Mickey Mouse comes on.  You also do some sweet claps anytime you hear someone say "Yay!"

You are in a fun stage of wanting to feed yourself.  It gets messy, but I love seeing you explore your food.  You also use both hands to feed yourself.

You are a great walker, (hence all the blurry pictures) but I feel like I should say you are a great runner.  Most of the time when you are going, you go!  It is so much fun seeing you run and you bring your arms way back behind you.  I'm sure you feel like your are flying.

You are a very curious little boy.  You will walk all around the house looking for your Dada.  Doing this has turned into a game for the two of you.  You have a new love for playing hide and go seek.  Dada is the hider and you are the seeker.  You get the best giggles when Dada says, "Boo" and you run off cackling.

Your "stranger danger" phase seems to be lightening up a bit.  You give people smiles like you use to do when you were younger, but you are still cautious of what is around you.

Words can no describe the love that I have for you.  I hope you are always strong, brave, and courageous.  I hope you always put God first and you do everything in love.
You have made my year sweet boy.  Happy 12 months!
