Suddenly I'm 30: Life Lately

Life at the Edwards Nest has been busy to say the least.  It has been 6 months since I have graced this blog and its something I have missed.  I have taken several breaks throughout the years and every time, I miss it.
Today, I turn 30...officially, and I thought it was a prefect day to get back on the wagon. So, here is a little life lately update.

The last I left you, our family was getting ready to expand.  I was also holding out and never released the gender.  Our sweet baby Edwards #2 is a Boy!!  He is just a perfect addition to our family and its like he has been with us forever.
Coleman Jackson Edwards came into the world on the morning of January 5, 2016.

Griffin has been a great big brother.  I couldn't of asked for a better transition for him.  He takes his role of big brother very seriously and loves sweet Coleman.

This was taken about 10 days after I had Coleman.  Coleman was delivered by C-section and I was told I would not be able to lift anything over 5 pounds for 2-4 weeks.  Griffin weighs 25lbs.  Griffin did fine with me not being about to hold him, but Mama, not so much.  At 10 days post-op I begged my OB to allow me to carry by boy.  I got the okay to pick up, carry, snuggle, and love on my oldest son and that's just what I did.  This was good for my heart.

Coleman is now 4 months old and such a joy.  He is a very content baby and fits in with out family like a dream.  Will be updating you on his month by month soon.

On the home front, things are still progressing.  We moved in this past June and we are steadily doing stuff.  I am one to make it feel like home and want things decorated and done.  Some rooms in the house are complete and others are not.  We were able to get grass planted for the yard and had some bushes planted around the house.  Still a work in progress a year later and I am sure this time next year I will be saying it again.

Griffin has grown so much over the past 6 months and even more so within the past 4 months.  Since bringing Coleman home from the hospital he has seemed to really be blossoming.  His language is out of this world and some of the things he says blows my mind and has me taken back.  He is learning so much in school and is getting ready to move to 2K!  He turned 2 in April.

That's a quick update.  More to come soon.  I am so thrilled to be back.  This is a community that I love to be apart of and I love having this forum as a type of online scrapbook for our life.  Hope you all have a blessed Friday-Eve!  I know I will...taking the day off to celebrate my birthday with the ones that I love.

12 Months of Griffin

I think that I have hung on to every ounce of you in hopes that the 12 month milestone will wait a bit longer.  But as is planned, you are now a toddler, but never forget that you will always be Mama's baby.

This month has been amazing!  Seeing you learn new things everyday is such a blessing.  We have a lot of favorite times together, but my favorite is night time.  You get so sweet and your giggle box always gets turn on full blast.  You love for me to sing to you and your favorite is, "This Little Light of Mine."  You seem to take every second of that song in and you always get the best smile on your face.

You started whole milk this month and we said goodbye to formula.  The change was easier than expected and you love it!
We celebrated your first Easter and you enjoyed being able to hunt eggs with your cousin.

You still go coo-coo over a ball and  I actually bought you one that is twice your size.  I thought you would have a hard time getting your arms around it, but you have proven me wrong and walk around with it all the time saying "Bah, Bah, Bah"

You are still an amazing sleeper.  You usually go down at 7pm and you sleep until 6:30 or 7:00am.  Your Mama and Dada thank you.  As I lay you down at night you go straight to your belly and tuck your arm underneath you.  You always reach one hand around you, because you know I am getting ready to lay the blanket over you.  You love to get the blanket in your hand, then snuggle it to your nose.  I love how you do a lot of things in a routine.  So much like your Mama in that aspect.

Your new word is Uh-oh, and we hear it a lot!  You sometimes make a game out of dropping something and you automatically follow it with a big UHH-OHH.

You love to clap.  You do it most during eating times and when the theme song for Mickey Mouse comes on.  You also do some sweet claps anytime you hear someone say "Yay!"

You are in a fun stage of wanting to feed yourself.  It gets messy, but I love seeing you explore your food.  You also use both hands to feed yourself.

You are a great walker, (hence all the blurry pictures) but I feel like I should say you are a great runner.  Most of the time when you are going, you go!  It is so much fun seeing you run and you bring your arms way back behind you.  I'm sure you feel like your are flying.

You are a very curious little boy.  You will walk all around the house looking for your Dada.  Doing this has turned into a game for the two of you.  You have a new love for playing hide and go seek.  Dada is the hider and you are the seeker.  You get the best giggles when Dada says, "Boo" and you run off cackling.

Your "stranger danger" phase seems to be lightening up a bit.  You give people smiles like you use to do when you were younger, but you are still cautious of what is around you.

Words can no describe the love that I have for you.  I hope you are always strong, brave, and courageous.  I hope you always put God first and you do everything in love.
You have made my year sweet boy.  Happy 12 months!

#boymoms: Guest Post

In case you missed my guest post on Monday, here it is.

Hi Friends!  I’m Sydney and I blog over at Raisin Southern Grace.  There I talk about some of my favorite recipes, building a house, how I struggled with infertility, and the new addition of our son, Griffin.  Since my husband and I had to deal with infertility, we didn’t have a conversation regarding if we wanted a boy or a girl.  We just wanted a baby.  We wanted to be parents.

After going through infertility treatments for a little over a year (we miscarried in May 2013), we found out we were expecting on our second wedding anniversary, August 27, 2013.  To say we were thrilled is an understatement.

We were able to find out the sex at our 16 week ultrasound.  Once the ultrasound tech showed us “the money shot”, I knew right away and I asked if I could be the one to tell me husband.  Finding out that we would be parents to a boy was overwhelming.

Even though we would be happy with having a boy or a girl, we LOVE having a boy.
And who says boys aren’t fun to dress.  I am having the best time dressing my little guy like “a little old man.”  People say that boys are Mama’s boys and Griff (who we call, The Boy) fits that to a T!  He is the best snuggle bug and always likes to nestle into my neck.  My boy can make this #boymom’s heart just melt.

Since Griffin is only 6 months old, we are really looking forward to the stages ahead.  I’m looking forward to trips to the park, making mud pies (bring on the dirt), and kicking the soccer ball around. Dada may prefer to toss a basket and go hunting with the boy though.

I believe the world needs more good men and it all starts now.  I look forward to teaching Griffin to be a man, be a good husband, and raise good children.  I’ll be teaching him to hold doors for women, to be polite, to put the toilet seat down (your welcome future wife), and to French braid (for your future daughter)

One word to describe being a boy mom is Fun!  We laugh play constantly, we laugh constantly, and we love hard.  I feel like all my children will be boys and that they all will eat me out of house and home.  And I’m okay with that.

Feel free to follow along with me more on Raising Southern Grace for updates on my little guy and some of our favorite things each month.

What a fun series Elizabeth.  Thanks so much for including me in on the #boymom movement.
